[ Earth 12243 ]

4.5 ::: KroMaggie

BTW...this episode was shown out of order. So, the lead-in from last episode was rather pointless, no?

Now, to the episode...

No, the title doesn't tell us what some of us thought, that Maggie was a Kromagg plant (If you remember, the original Sliders were the Kromagg plants...)

Now, this episode marks the actual first appearance of the Kromaggs (in the first few episodes, we only saw Wade, the Queen of the Kromaggs)...

So, Maggie lands on screen (Except, I guess, they turned on the camera a little early, because we see Maggie actually jump up...not that anyone's watching) and she walks up to the Peckinpah hotel (You guys didn't know? They ALWAYS stay there). This episode also re-introduces the "Sliding Uniform", which had been away for a while, BTW.

Maggie goes and speaks to the clerk at the counter (The sound here resembles a Japanese movie, with their voices and mouths out of sync.) Their conversation? The circus...

Then, during the middle of the conversation, the clerk simply says, "Oh, and by the way, the Kromaggs rule this Earth, and they have for 3 years." Maggie looks dumbfounded (as usual...) and goes outside. Here, they actually use the "Terrorized LA scene" from "Independence Day" (You can see Vivica A. Fox, but I doubt she would want to take action, even if she accidentally tuned in), even though the streets were calm and clean about 10 minutes before.

So, Maggie walks down the street (which is normal again) and sees a Kromagg (which looks normal, like Invasion's Kromaggs).

* Note - the normality of this part won't last....TRUST ME!!!

So, Maggie chases the Kromagg down. He turns down an alley, and Maggie follows him. Then, we see a COMPLETELY different Kromagg (in a different uniform, resembling a Nazi soldier). Maggie doesn't even notice the difference!!!! The Kromagg speaks French to her. Maggie, the usual genius, utters, "Oh, I guess the French rule America here..."

(Silicon poisoning?)

After showing Maggie, we see the Kromagg again, except, now, he is a clown, with a patch over his eye (Peckinbraga's explanation is that they had always seen the Kromaggs as Pirate Clowns, and they wanted to make a smooth transition. I think that they succeeded...). He runs and jumps in his go cart and drives to a tool shop.

So, from now on, obviously, the Kromaggs are no longer ape-like creatures in Manta ships, but Pirate Clowns that drive go-carts and work in Tool Shops....

Tormé must be happy....

Want the rest of the episode? It would hurt too much to explain, but it involved talking parrots and Braga singing half of "Cats"...

Next week, we should get the beginning of the new arc....YIPPIE!!!!
