4.4 ::: Slide to the Zoo

First of all...doesn't the title just scream, "Watch me!!!!", in that Dr. Seuss kind of way? Well...this is the title simply because no one would let them use the title "Planet of the Apes", which, unfortunately, this episode is about...

So, Maggie just falls from the sky (The entire budget is gone, so they can't afford a vortex) and lands on a man (who is in a loin-cloth, in a cage). After a make-out session that lasts about 10-15 minutes, she finds out that the man cannot talk.

Then, the scene cuts to Maggie on a horse with the man, in the middle of a valley (weren't they JUST in prison?). Suddenly, one man (Guess who it is), with black face paint on (with a piece of paper taped to his chest, reading "ape") runs up to Maggie yelling loudly.

But don't worry, Maggie has a plan. She pulls out a gun (???) and shoots the ape in the chest from point blank range. He should be dead, but this is Peckinbraga. The ape proceeds to FALL IN LOVE with Maggie. Showcasing his multi-talented self, Braga speaks in a British accent (Very novel, I must say!), showing his love. To prove this, he gives her a red convertible (Even though the technology of the world is dead; they have stone houses and they ride horses. But, according to this part, they have a local Ford dealership nearby), a box of candy, and the man (This has to be Braga, because he's the only one who would write a story where a man would prove his love by thrusting the woman into the arms of ANOTHER man, but...)

Oh! Did I mention that the man who played "the man" in this episode walked out half-way through the episode? Well, he did. So, Braga had to play both parts. But instead of using the clever camara tricks from Seasons 1-3, they decide that Peckinpah would play Braga as the man, while Braga is playing the ape (That sentence was more organized than the actual scene!)

Back to the....plot (I guess)...

Suddenly, Peckinpah comes in as Dr. Laius (Clever, aren't they?), who begins singing. My only explaination for this is that they confused this portion of "Planet of the Apes" with the Simpsons episode where Troy McClure is in the Broadway production of the same movie. But, this is the most plausible part of the whole episode. He puts them on trial, shortly afterwards...

But since there isn't even internal continuity in these episodes, this isn't followed up on...

So, Maggie and the man go off into the desert (Why? No one knows) and proceed to see Mount Rushmore (on the coast...)

Then, as a foreshadowing to next week's episode, we get a close-up on a model of a Borg cube...

Kill me...kill me now...
